We left the parking lot at 7:40. The first lake is only a few minutes from the car, so it is always busy, but the trail empties out quickly after that.
The section between the first and the middle lake is the steepest: rocky steps, some of them wet and slippery in the shade. Poles helped.
The middle lake has the log everyone takes a photo on. We skipped the queue and went straight to the upper lake, which was the best part of the day: quiet, sunny, and you can hear the glacier cracking now and then.
Notes for next time
- Day-use pass is required in season, book it the evening before.
- Gloves. It was around 2 °C at the upper lake in the morning.
- Coffee at the upper lake beats coffee at the car.
